This sweet little New Edge belongs to a friend of mine. And no, that's not a factory option.

Kinja'd!!!

You're like, "It's just another Mustang with shiny bits."

And then I say, look here. Or rather, "Look up... waaaaaay up."

Kinja'd!!!

And from the inside...

Kinja'd!!!

Rocking glasspacks and custom exhaust, too.

So, Oppo, do we approve of this Pony? I know I do.

I love New Edges, so I to see one in this condition is something I approve of.

I've always liked the New Edge styling, but then again I also like the original SN-95 GTs (especially with the spoiler deleted). Can't say I'd want one with a sun roof though, as a personal preference. I prefer the clean look of the roof as it is. My brother had an 03 Cobra, that thing was intoxicating! Unfortunately he sold it a few months ago.

Over all, nice looking car, I'd drive it! That color is definitely one of my favorites for that body style.

My friend, he wanted an S197 when he bought this. However this one had only two owners before him and one of those, also a Mustang Guy, had this sunroof installed and it's TITS! I mean, wow. I really approve of the sunroof on this badboy. What the pictures can't capture is the quality - it looks like it's factory it's done so well. Even the switch looks like it belongs there.

Really, just a super tasteful touch.

Oh, and my buddy is an American Muscle guy, just like me. AM loves Mustangs.

I'm right there with you. Though, in terms of wing deletes I think the S197's (including the face lifted '10 forward cars) look best when deleted. I actually prefer a bigger, more curved wing on the SN95's... like Cervini offers and if possible, louvers on the rear glass. But that's just me.

I'll be getting a chance to drive this one very, very soon. Of course, it means letting someone else drive my baby, too... but I think I can live with that.

You got that?

Color me impressed. Pardon me, "Colour".

Definitely agree on the wing delete on the new ones. I wouldn't mind the Cervini wing on the SN95 either, not a bad look at all.

I guess letting him drive your car is only fair! By the looks of it, he takes good care of his Mustang, so I'd guess you have nothing to worry about!

We're both super anal about our cars and we're both Mustang guys.

I asked, "So can I drive it?" and when he answered, "Can I drive yours?" I realized how shitty that question was to ask because, even though I'd trust him with my car in a heart beat, it's my car and it's my baby !

Of course, I've already traded drive for drive with many of my friends so it's no big thing.

Not a fan of the exhaust or the cheap AM replia rims, but the sunroof is cool. Its to bad ford never offered this as an option, this will be one thing I'll miss if I ever pick up a terminator.

I think this car has had paint work though, I'm not sure the mirrors on the GT came painted stock. I think only the anniversary editions did

Places like American Muscle offer pre-painted parts including mirrors. And yes, this car has had paint work. It's had paintwork, yes. It's had a crap ton of work. And while I appreciate your point of view on the wheels, I just don't agree.

what exactly is a crap ton of work

The 99-04 GTs are less than $10K now. Been considering getting as low a mileage option as I can find and get back into track days.

I'd skip the sunroof though, feel like most aftermarket jobs leak.

Enough work to equal a ton of crap.

I get that you're being trollish, but are you actually asking what work has been done or are you just being another Dick About Mustangs?

As much as I love my S197 as a DD, I don't know that I'd track it. Or even a PP GT or V6 for that matter. If I had the bank, I'd buy a second car as a track toy. That said, if you have the money and the time, you can turn a New Edge Mustang into a track monster with enough work. I'm just not in favor of the work needed versus the result and would probably use it as an excuse to get another car.

i was asking a simple question but okay

crap ton of work can be "it has a full exhaust, some rims, and some subwoofers"

or it can be like the 00 GT I ran into a few weeks ago which had a 5.0L cammed stroker with a P51-D intake and wet nitrous system.

Pardon me, it's my FP-Guard - sometimes it kicks in on Oppo even when I don't want it to. Sorry, please forgive my 'tude dude.

Full exhaust, headers, springs, wheels and tires, trim bits, the aforementioned sunroof, tune...

Okay, so it's not a crap ton in the sense of, "I swapped out the engine, tranny, rear end and everything forward of the bumper cowl..." but it's still enough work to make this car a really stand-out Pony (especially that sunroof IMHO) above a stock roller, for example.

There are other bits and pieces too, like the plugs, TB and CAI which he's done all adding a bit more Ooomph to the cars get-up-and-go but those bits really do more to make the engine look nice with the hood up.

He's planning to get a cam(s) grind, do the heads, forged pistons etc but the reason he hasn't yet is it's summertime and he wants to drive his car, not wait for it to be ready. Next year, though, he'll be running a pretty well modded New Edge and the only thing it'll really be missing is FI.

Okay, so it's important to clarify that he's not going Whole Hog with the job, he's not going to swap out the rear or do an IRS job, for example. He's not going to drop the engine or change the tranny (he's running the manual T56 anyway) but he's doing everything, pretty much, you expect of a show AND go Pony.

Am I forgiven? Can we be friends now?
